I thought I would share this with all who have experienced some of the playback problems on backed-up or home produced DVDs. Over the last year I have experienced countless disks that play back once or never, some that freeze or skip, some that slow down etc. etc.

Having asked advice on this board, I decided to change my player to from an Acoustic Solutions to a Sony DVP-NS305. Guess what? The huge selection coasters I collected all play flawlessley on the Sony. Even 1st gen Bulqpaq media. I've held back from embarking on a project to copy all my VHS tapes to DVD because I little confidence in its success. With the Sony I have total confidence.

If you have frustrating playback problems with your DVDs, its not your burner, its not your media, its your player. Change it for one like the Sony which WILL play whatever you care to put in it. I've only had it a day and my view of the value of DVD-R technology has just changed 180 degress. Not bad for £99. This is what works of me:

Panasonic LF-D310 (1 X burner)
Pinnacle Instant Copy (To create backups)
DVDit LE (To create own DVDs)
250gb Hard Drive (To store them on)
Sony DVP-NS305 to play them all on.
