Not playing games at all and it has power... sounds like a laser problem, either it's dirty or dead. What's your PlayStation 2's version? Like that, you can try to clean the laser following a guide(don't remember where it is) for a fat(Version 1 to 11) or a slim (Version 12 to 14C). Does it do that with originals and backups(if you have any)? Do you get the error message "Disc Read Error" when you go to the browser? If so, then the laser is dead, or VERY dirty.

there is a guide if you want to try claning or adjusting the laser.
But provide more info and someone may be able to help more.
Like the questions above. Go through in a little more detail as to how "it doesn't work"
