Any internet provider is compatible, but a 603 error relates to your connection.

If you're on dial-up then that would explain the problem, since the majority of games are broadband only. If you do have b/b, but use a router, then it's most likely something to do with that. PS2 was never designed with the use of routers in mind tbh. Try a direct connection to mae sure you're connecting ok with that, then sort out your router problems

A direct connection means plugging the ethernet cable directly from the modem to your ps2's network adapter, without any router/pc in-between.
2 meg is ok, I know people who're only on 516K, which is the minimum speed that Sony really suggest. I used to be on 2meg a while ago, but am on 10meg now.

Doesnt your current modem have an ethernet port? Most UK modems do.

i use a us robotics router aND its shit. i have a speedtouch modem but it doesnt have a ethnet cable only phone and usb.

You dont have to use a router.

I use the Speedtouch modem, just stick an etheret card in your pc if you dont already have one, get a crossover cable and set up internet connection sharing.

And thats all there is to it :)
