so do u need a mod chip or swap magic to play backup games? if u own the game and copied it onto the computer why can u just burn it and it would be the same disc? i want to know because my brother sent me a couple of games on the computer of his for the PS2 and i tried to burn them but they didnt work.

Yes, you need either Swap Magic and one other mod, which depends on the version you have (slim or fat PS2) You can get an aftermarket fliptop for either type. The slim can also use a set of tools that goes by many names like Slimtool, Magic Keys, Magic Switch, Ghost Switch and others.
Or a quality mod chip like DMS4 Pro SE (my choice) or Matrix Infinity
These mods trick the PS2 into thinking they are origianl discs.

The reason why you ask? Because the PC burner can copy ALMOST evrything from the original. But there is an area on the original that you burner can not copy called the BCA (Burst Cutting Area)
So that is why the mods are needed or the PS2 will not be able to play the disc and it will not appear to be a PS2 disc to your system.

The mod chip is more exspensive but an all around better mod. I would send the PS2 off to a place like Teammodders.com and have one installed.
Swap Magic work pretty good too it just involves a bit more work as some game need rebuilding, or dummy files deleted. It can not play DVD9 (dual layer) back ups like GT4 or God Of War at all.
