is it possible to run isos via usb using the runumd method..i.e. without rebooting to 2.71 and requiring the 2.71 firmware dump??? the 2.71 takes too much space

leptons to uinstall or update devhook
you delete the old DH files and put the new ones on your MS.(or use the installer) 2 pages back there is a link for it.
It will not bricked your psp when you input your setup wrong.
you do not go in to the menu that has Flash.(you do not need to flash it)only if you what
lplover2k the USB will not work with the runumd method.

lplover2k I would agree XP is easy, but not as stable or reliable. But this is a whole different topic. I'll have to try the new account fix.

Looks like I spoke to soon. Backup computer crashed, looks like harddrive controller problems. I'm gonna have to figure out this driver problem after all. Wish me luck.

Do you have a 1.5 FW PSP?
If you are in DH(2.71 xmb) Homebrews will not work.(only like 2 that are fixed to work)like the NES emu

I can't get this to work. I installed USBhost properly but I still can't load iso's. I changed the settings to what it said in the guide but whenever I try to load an iso, my psp just hangs after rebooting to 2.71. I can emulate 2.71 fine but for some reason this doesn't work. I know its not my iso thats bad because I tried playing it when it was on my memory stick with devhook and it worked. Any suggestions?

It has to work if you use this settings
DEVHOOK v0.46(FW v2.71)
TARGET: (reboot XMB)
UMD-ISO: ubshostfs0:/ISO/game.iso
UMD-MODE: ISO ANYUMD
FLASH: ms0:/dh/271(MS HOOK)
UMD Ver.: 2.xx -> 2.00
CLOCK: 222/111
USB: Enabled(or off if you have the iso's in your MS)
PL-ADR: 89000000

I can't try that because I'm using dh 0.46. I tried doing this without putting in a UMD and it went to 2.71 without hanging. But as soon as I put in the UMD my PSP freezes.

I do not know why your psp if freezing when you put a UMD in the drive.(you need a UMD so the games work)
Did you try more then one iso? it can be your iso game is not working.
or your DH files. try to get new DHv46 full pack(you can go to www.PSP-HaXors.co.nr and get the DH installer)

Every problem I've had stems from the PSP type B driver not loading correctly. When the PSP is restarted after chossing an ISO and choosing start, the connection is dropped, as it should be, but not reconnecting. I ran this on a second computer and everything worked fine. So I think most of the problems (outside of corupted ISO's), is the same driver issue I'm currently trying to solve. I've tried deleting the device, along with all the related files, restarted comp, reinstalled, same problem. Anyone have any idea why a device would not reconnect when pluged in?

fzrhm and benskig I do not know why it is not working for you.
It can be your iso game(not untouched) or DH files you have.
Try to get the PSP type B driver installer at ps2nfo.com

Its not the driver files, DH files, or the ISO. I have used the same file on a second computer, and everything works fine. It is a problem with the driver installation and/or operation.

Finally worked out the driver problem. I loaded PSPhost and ran the driver install exe from the installed PSPhost directory (ie. c:\program files\psphost\PSP Type B Driver install - Multi Language.exe). Not really sure why this worked over manually installing the drivers, but it did. Only problem now is games that worked before now say "The game could not be started 80020148". All of the files on the PSP remain the same. Games worked before, but none now.

DO NOT UPGRADE!!!!! If you upgrade you will be hating life! Devhook and most of everything cool for the PSP will only work on version 1.50 which i'm guessing is what you have now..... Make sure that when you start devhook the "Cpu clock" is at 222mhz and your games should work

O.K. Start the psp with the umd drive open and browse to your memory stick, choose devhook launcher , close the umd drive then make sure all settings are as they should be(see what Juan2320 posted) and click on start, your game should load or devhook should take you to XMB...... Your psp is version 1.50 right?
