Guys, hello, I have a PSP console with the 3.71 M33-4 OE firmware. What I noticed is that I can't play all .cso and some .iso games. Even when I tried to decompress a .cso file (NBA Live 08) it hadn't worked.
Is there, or not support to these types of files by the firmware; Is it problem that the game is quite new?

There is no OE at the end of 3.71 M33-4.
Go HERE and follow the steps to get your ISO/CSO working properly.
If you still have issues with the CSO after following the guide then you could have a bad rip or compression of the game.

There is no OE at the end of 3.52 M33-4.

Actually he said 3.71 M33-4 :) not 3.52 M33 -4 :)

there I corrected it.
No matter if it is 3.52 or 3.71 there is no OE at the end of M33 lol.
I think it is the fact that M33-4 used to be what you saw for 3.52 but now the new update M33-4 is out for 3.71 so the brain has to get used to it.

Sorry for the "OE", my mistake, in system info the PSP says clearly 3.71 M33-4, this the last update from Dark-Alex/M33 team firmware, isn't it? Well I still do have these problems.
PSP can read initially the game, but while it tries to load it, it suddenly tuns off by itself.

Try it ... and tell us the result....
***BUT DON'T BLAME ME IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG...TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK...****
Might worth a try..
and yes after you downgraded your PSP to 1.5you now upgrade to any CFW but 3.71 M33 is the latest with update 4

If it is a PSP FAT then yes it can downgrade the PSP to 1.50 firmware. If it is a PSP SLIM then no it can't downgrade to 1.50 firmware.
But there is no need to downgrade to 1.50 with either of them just use this guide HERE which will install 3.71 M33-2 to the FAT/SLIM psp without downgrading to 1.50 firmware.

How about doing a little reading and you will get your answer. Start by reading the guide I linked to last above.

sorry to have bothered you :(... i did read the guide you posted...please correct me if i am wrong, this is what i inferred:
- needed a memory card that can be made into a magic memory stick using the software you provided on any PSP even if its not running M33
- datel tool battery purchased of the net...
-the rest following instructions would do?
the only confusion was if M33 is needed on the PSP if i am to create a magic memory stick... is it?

No you don't need custom firmware installed. it even says that in the title of the guide.

I have read most of this topic and have found some contradicting information. So, in a nutshell, I would like to know:
- Can my PSP (firmware 3.73) be used for running .cso files at all?
- Is there any chance of it "bricking" in the process?
- If so, how likely is it that it will brick?
- Can I still use the wireless internet browser after the process is complete? (This was released fw 2.00, but I have seen, in this topic, that custom firmware can be used so i'm left a little confused)
- Not including DevHook, what other software is required?
- What do I actually do? (A point in the right direction would be greatly apreciated if it's too complex for a post)
You have my apologies if any of these questions are 'noobish' and I thank-you for any help.
[EDIT:] Never Mind, I think i've got it eventually

Originally posted by vbaker4: alright man, cso files are just like iso files, but they can only be played through dev hook. Heres the 2.71 dev hook, http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/632, now just put the game stuff in the game folder and the "dh" folder in the root of your ms, also, create a folder in the root of your ms called "ISO" put your cso file in there and load up dev hook, when its loaded, select your cso/iso file, then go to iso anyumd, umd version (you have to have a game umd in there to make it work) 2.xx-2.00, firmware, 2.71(only choose 2.71, you dont have the other files for the other firmwares so it wont work, cpu,22mhz just leave it, then after that do that reboot xmb, and below that choose remote control, the rmote controller then hit return, now hit start and your psp will go into the fake 2.71 mode, and it will load your cso file, if you want to get out of 2.71 mode just take the battery out and you will be at 1.5. I hope that helps ya!
Hi, I also wanted to play a downloaded game (also .cso) and I installed DevHook and did all the other applications, but how do you load DevHook? Thanks.

This thread was created close to 2 years ago. Devhook is outdated now. Custom firmware is your better option. What firmware do you have on your PSP?

I used the devhook 0,45 ultimate installer and everything seems to be fine; devhook starts normally and everything seems to be in order but though I put iso and cso files where they should be (an iso folder), they can't be seen in the game menu or anywhere else...
please help..
