Hello everyone, I am new to this area so please be patient with me. I have a few movies that I would like to shrink and am experiencing getting them down to 4.5 Gig. Are there some good links or do any of you have some good ideas how to accomplish this? Here are a few of the movie titles I have questions about.

Failure To Launch
The Jackal
Find Me Guilty
Date Movie
firewall

Thanks...

damann61,
Welcome to the forum. Shrink has not been updated in years so I would suggest you use DVDFAB Decrypter to Rip to HD then use VobBlanker to correct the structure problems and then use Shrink

You can also use RipIt4Me and then use Shrink

You can also use AnyDVD in conjunction w/ Shrink

Are you doing movie only or the whole disk. If doing whole disk then I suggest you use the Quality enhancements in Shrink. Set the target size to Custom and to the right of that put 4350 as this will limit the size of the DVD and hopefully get Shrink to reduce it to that size

Hey! thanks Car.Mike. Yes I was able to get all movies ripped to the H.D. I think my real problem is getting the size of the movie down to fit on a standard DVD (4.5 Gig). What steps do you suggest that I could take from here?

damann61,
I would do Movie only using Shrink as the quality will not be affected too much. Just make sure you set the target size to Custom 4350.

Below is a site that has guides and 2 or 3 of them have to do w/ using Shrink. Look at the guides and then pick how you want to do them.

What ripper did you use to rip it to HD?

If you use the quality enhancements that will help when you view it.

Car.Mike,

Hey, I used DVDecryptor to rip them to the H.D. It seemes to do OK without any errors. I guess this is OK. Maybe I should start using a different method! I will follow the links instructions that you sent and give it a try. Thanks again.

damann61,
DVDDecrypter has not been updated in a long time. Try this way first. I know it is a learning curve but once set up it will do all of the movie except the newer decryption version. For that you will need VobBlanker or you can use Ripit4Me. Ripit4Me is similar to DVDDecrypter in that it uses that program but utilizes FixVTS to correct the structure problems.

You can get the info here for Ripit4Me and a guide is included. The guide was written by Arniebear ( one of the members here) and is very well done.

lensu,
The studios sometimes put in the DVD null files that screws up some programs. VobBlanker corrects this as does it's little brother FixVTS. You might rip the DVD to HD but Shrink or Nero or another program will get errors when it tries to copy the files. Using those programs correct the DVD structure and enables you to safely copy the DVD afterward using Shrink or another program. A guide written by one of the members here is below and you can read it.

On my HD when I use DVDFAB Decrypter I can figure about 13-15
minutes to rip to HD.

You can also use Ripit4Me and a guide is below:

And Last but not least you can use AnyDVD and use the ripper function that is included
