sorry, dont know where i sohuld post this and couldnt find info in the search. heres the warning:
In addition, many of our DVDs are copy guarded by Macrovision and any attempt to copy a disk will result in permanent damage to both the disk and your DVD burner.

i had heard of this a couple years ago, that a dvd would fry the dvd burning drive and damage the dvd, but never heard of the incident occuring. so, does anyone know of this actually happening, is there any way for me to bypass it/ can DVD Shrink be used to avoid this guard?
thanks

Hello.

I've never seen anything like that happen. :) DVD Shrink will overcome Macrovision and region protection but not any of the newer stronger protections. Here are some options:

Use AnyDVD to overcome all protections and decrypt in the background. It is a commercial program with lifetime updates and a fully functional free trial. All other programs including Shrink can be used with it.

A totally free approach uses DVDFab Decrypter and VObblanker along with others to backup DVDs. Links to software and guide are here:

Another free approach is to use Ripit4me which somewhat automates the backup process using other free software. Links to software and the process can be found in this guide:

If you have AnyDVD and Shrink you should be fine for 95% of the movies out there, for the others that Shrink cant do, turn off AnyDVD and turn on DVDFab and use the VOBblanker afterwards and you will be fine.

LOL.... There's no such thing.

RipGuard or ARccoS issues? Well, there are tons of FREE tools that can rip any dvds (yes.. even new released) flawlessly. Below are some very useful FREE tools to have.

<< *FREE* Ripper & Editing tools >>
**DVDFAB Decrypter - one of the best FREE ripper now (takes 12 minutes to rip)
**RipIt4Me - one of the best FREE COMBO/ripper including DVD Decrypter + PSL (12 - 15 minutes to rip)
**VobBlanker - one of the strongest FREE editing tool (2 - 5 minutes to process/fix fake structural, fake cells, dummy vts/pgc, etc. flawlessly, it can "cut, edit, strip and blank" out any scenes/vts/cells or unwanted junks.)
**FixVTS - one of the best FREE junks processing tool (works the same way like VobBlanker, but it "can not" edit or blank out unwanted junks.)
**PgcEdit - a very useful FREE editing tool.

<< *FREE* Transcoding tool >>
**DVD Shrink - (one of the best FREE transcoding engine).

<< *FREE* ISO/Image burning engines from LUK >>
**DVD Decrypter
**ImgBurn

Good lucks, enjoy ripping and happy burning.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

I saw the same warning about Macrovision on that site, so I went directly to Afterdawn to get the truth. Afterdawn is the hoax buster for us DVD geekers. Thanks for the info.
95% works with DVD Shrink. Thanks to the new RipItForMe, the other 5% slowly shrinks. One that stumped me completely recently, was finally diagnosed with a bad sector on the original disk. Sometimes you have to try another known to be good disk.
