im about it buy a used ps2...but there is a problem with it.... lends that reads the disk is to far up and scraches the hell out of the disk.....i was wondering if there was an ne fix for this or ne fix at all. Even if the fix involes not having to take out the disk after it is in b/c i was planning to get an external hard drive with it.
Also for the external hard drive.....would it waork if i made my own since it is cheeper (buying a case and using a interal hard drive)

(btw i dont have the ps2 infront of me now and it is not the slim ver)

why would you want an external hdd on a fat ps2? if the lens has been moved that far up then it's probably either dead or about to die in which case you'll need to replace the laser.

ok my ps2 makes like a rattling noise when its loading a disc and the rattling is like a buzzing way.....wats up with my ps2....i got sims 2 to play man.....help!!!

I would agree, you would have to have the laser replaced and that would cost you about $100 between the $50 laser, the install price, and shipping. DO NOT BUY IT.
For that you can go get a used one elsewhere, Like Gamestop who has refurbished older models for $89.99 with a game.

And i agree, with a fat PS2 you do not want an external hard drive.
YOu want to get the network adapter and a COMPATIBLE internal IDE ATA100 style PC hard drive. The game compatibility will be better and the load times will be fater.

If you really want a system then go to Teammodders.com and buy a used V7 with DMS4 Pro chip, then you can slap in the internal hard drive and network adapter and have no additional software to buy to play games from it, or back up discs. Unlike the stock system where you will need to buy HD Advance (internal) or USB Extreme (external)

i have 2 question...im getting the ps2 for free btw.... 1..can i use a comp. disk drive to^fix the lends....or adjuste the lends.......2 for the external HD.. do i need nething else other than the cd and any external hd?
