Yeah, it should work.
It's kinda hard to help when you give so little information. Is this the first burnt game you have tried? If not, do others work? What game are you trying to play? etc?
V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Ok, then I'll give you more information. The game I am trying to play is Winning eleven 10 (japanese version of Pro evolution soccer 6, to come soon). Its the first game that I have burned myself and tried to play, but I have a coupled of hundreds maybe other games that I havent burned myself, but those are all cd-r, and all those works. But I'm burning this game on a DVD-R because of the big space you know? the burning process completes succesfully and all the other guys that have this file and have burned it says that it works so its nothing wrong with the .ISO i guess. So Im getting a bit frustrated here, i absolutely do not know what is wrong here. Its supposed to work..help me please

a few things,
1. try DVD Decrypter as Nero is not great for games.
2. If those are 8X DVD-R burn the game at 4X, If the disc is 4X then burn it at 1X, if it is 16X then you can try 6X or 8X but it may still not work as some PS2's just do not do well at all with 16X
3. see of there are firmware updates for your DVD Burner on the net which can help a lot.
4. make sure nothing on the PC is running in the backround and do not use the PC.

lots of people say Ritek 8x is the best but, I use Maxell 8x DVD-R and it works flawlessly. and i have burned over 30+ with all seccess.
and all the No-Name, foreign, whatever the hell work fine too as long as they're 4x or 8x.

okey, so I bought some new disc at the shop in the town.. i thought the TDK DVD+R 1-8x would seem as a good choice so i tried them. But when finished burning and I was going to load it in the ps2, i didnt get that disc read error, but insted just the red screen where it says ; insert a playstation 2 disc or playstation 2 format" .. ok.. so whats the problem now ? :o im getting reaaaaaaaaaally pissed off here..

Why a game doesn't work could be so many things it is hard to narrow it down.
1. people told you to buy 8X DVD-R and your bnought +R anyway
2. have you looked into the firmware i mentioned above to see if your burner has any updated versions on the net?
3. Can your burner booktype the discs? If it can then booktype the DVD+R to DVD-Rom
4. The TDK +R may work, i know people who use TDK with success.
5. It is most likely the way that you are making and burning these discs that is causing them not to work. I do not have that game to say if anything special is needed to back it up. Do you have any other games you could try to back up and see if they work?

I bought those because it was the only one they had available with 8x and the best they had of those. But I do have some other DVD-R that I have given a try and i actually do got lucky with one disc, it actually worked. And i tried some different booting methods and it work, how happy was i ? :P but it turned out that it was NTSC game, so i used my NTSC cabel so now it works perfectly :) i figured it out so thanks for all the help guys.
