hi. i'm new here but i've been reading on here for a bit and i wanted to try to back up "joy luck club" and i have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter and usually those work for me when backing up dvd's, but when i popped in "joy luck club" it said it couldn't compress it and it showed green, which it usually does and red, which it shouldnt at that top bar which says how much space it'll take up. it says that it's at 5,192 gb or something and when i click on custom compression, it won't go any lower than that. i've downloaded and tried ripit and fixit - or whatever those programs are called and it still didn't work. it said there were no bad sectors and no protection or anything. if anyone knows of another program that can compress it, that would be great. thanx :)

Did you make sure you unchecked the audio you don't need in DVD Shrink? Also are you trying to back to back up the whole DVD or just the movie? If you are backing up the whole DVD along with menus maybe you can try backing up just the Main Movie.

how long is that movie? never seen it but i think maybe it is over 2 hours, maybe more anyway make sure u have unchecked all of the audio, & subtitle u dont need. also i would suggest doing the movie only because it sounds like it is going 2 be a big compression rate, around 50% are lower.

if u wanna do the full backup make sure that the menu and the xtra features slider bars are all the way to the left and uncheck what u dont need

thanx for the suggestions...i did follow the ripit guide exactly and it still didnt work...the movie itself is over 5 gb...i unchecked all the audio files and it still didnt matter...it's 2 hrs and 19 min long. i will try to download dvdfab and see if it works that way. thanx for the help :)
