Hello everyone... been browsing this forum for quite some time but never actually registered... Guess it would happen sooner or later... :)
Congratulations for an excelent website and forum, really apreciated!

Now... on to the problem... if we can call it a problem.

I Bought a ps2 slim... already "touched" to work with swapmagic... bought it from a friend along with version 3.6 of the given software.

Most games work... usually if it doesn't its a cd/toc problem with swap magic.. (never had a problem with DVD... ) So i'm quite happy with my buy... But there are some... sharp corners i need to polish a little more.

It all started with AR Max. I know cheating is wrong, i NEVER do it in a online game, yet the most IMPORTANT thing for me in a game is its story... I'm playing Onimusha and loving it... Yet i work, i have a very complicated shift (5am-1pm)... a girlfriend... a very sick mother... so time is scarse... and the game is really good... really a chalange :D So i thought... lets cheat a little... just so i won't die allways... And because i don't like buying something i won't like or works... won't work... i downloaded AR Max to test it... and to my surprise... it worked... the cd/dvd booted... perfectly... upgraded the cheats database from the internet... everything.

Except... when it came to actally load the game... First... i can't remove the magic thing that keeps my ps2 "always closed"... i don't know how... i didn't put them there... i don't want to brake it.. or open it... And the ar max disc won't stop so i can put my backup/sw again... So i thought: problem with SM.... browsing thru this forum... i found a solution... but it involved removing the keys... and again... i'm stuck.

Then i found out that Coder... version 3.8 of the given software already has suport for AR cheat codes... allong with some other things... quite good! can get one for 40? aprox... But.... is it worth it?? I mean... i already have 3.6plus... would it be a good buy? How is the compatibility list? Does the toc problem really got solved?

I would like some opinions... some ideas.. perhaps someone as another solution... more... cheaper :D

BTW... i can get you photos of the ps2... to show you how it got tweakd.. i never saw on the internet those keys... i don't know..

Anyway... thanks for reading all this!! I know i have a problem with the " ... " :( Sorry....

Stick with your 3.6plus.

3.8 has too many problems, and the cheat functin doesnt always work.

Any ideas? Any other way??

3.8 doesnt have problems....well for me at least. but yeah, stick with your 3.6 because why spend another $30 on the same stuff, (and not to mension waiting 1-3 months from over-seas-distributors).

You got a great buy from your friend, they must love you. :)

Uhm... i got the ps2 and the sm for 100?... not a bad deal.

Yet, with this i cannot us AR Max right?? Do you advise another one? Xplode, Codebreakers... Gameshark??

Do you see a solution for my problem?? I thought of SM 3.8 due to its capacity to use AR Max cheat codes...

AR MAX will work if its the Swap Magic Fixed version, but its a bit buggy.
Any Codebreaker up to v6 will work, after that there's anti-mod protection, so you'd need the v9.2 cracked version.
Xploder v4/v5 will work fine, as will Gameshark v3 or v4

Uhm... already got the 9.2 cracked... in the rar archive i received a iso... and a elf. Iso burnt with a120% won't boot... i tried before using sm to launch elf files... and i think it doesn't like my usb hdd... it completly freezes after showing the first screen.

Any ideas?
