initially i was getting out of memory error message. now i'm getting exception occurred with any dvd i try to backup. i have windows xp, plenty of space on my hardrive... i tried backing up thru OPEN DISC.. and also tried backing up thru OPEN FILES, no success, ripped files using DVD Decrypter and Pcgedit as well, no success...i uninstalled and installed DVD Shrink, still no success... pls help me
Newer dvd's have copyright protections that dvdshrink and dvddecrypter have trouble getting around. Use dvdfabdecrpter from here: http://www.dvdidle.com/en/free.htm , this will rip the files from the dvd to your hardrive, then you can open the files with shrink and continue on like normal.
I'm tellin' ya, I've mentioned it plenty of times before, at the top of the Shrink forum, there should be a disclaimer that says the things we always say: "Shrink is an older program, it most likely cannot handle DVDs made after -x-. It will need another program to work in conjunction with."
Or something like that.
DVDFab, CloneDVD, AnyDVD, VOBB and a couple of others, will most likely handle the DVD you're trying to back up.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie
