I have had over 10 coasters in my history of trying to make PS1/PSX Backups. Here's exactly what I did (according to FAQs/info on this website):

1. Open Alcohol 120%
2. Press "Image Making Wizard"
3. Set Datatype to "Playstation"
4. Check "skip reading errors"
5. Check "fast skip error blocks"
6. Change read speed to 1x
7. Create image
8. Press "Image Burning Wizard"
9. Set Datatype ro "Playstation"
10. Change type to "DAO/SAO"
11. Change burn speed to 4x
12. Burn on Sony CD-R

I also tried CDRWIN with this process:
1. Set mode to "Copy to CD Recorder" under "Backup Disc"
2. Set Data/Audio speed to 4x
3. Set Recorder speed to 2x
4. Check "Raw Sectors"
5. Burn using Sony CD-R

I then try to boot it using my exploit, which is this process:
1. Boot up exploit
2. Swap disc for PS1 Backup using slide card
3. Press "Start" (on my exploit) to go back to PS2 CD/Memory Browser screen (where you go to copy/delete stuff on memory card)
4. Choose PS1 Black Disc next to memory card

And the game freezes right after the "Playstation" logo every time. Am I burning wrong? Or maybe I'm booting wrong? I know it's not the media because I've burned other stuff onto Sony CD-R's and have it work.

And I don't know if it matters, but the game I tried to backup was Resident Evil. Is there some patch or something for that game, or is there some special burn procedure, or maybe it's just not burnable?

Yeah, it's just that I really wanted for this question to be answered. Anyway, there's a program in the newer LaunchELF (I don't know when it started, but I've had the program from 3.72 to 3.80) called "PS2 Browser", and like it says, it takes you to the PS2 Browser screen (where you can access mem cards, delete/copy memory, etc.). So after doing some reading, I found out that if you swap for the PS1 backup before you launch the program, the PS2 will think that the backup is a real PS1 game, and the only problem is that it freezes after the Playstation logo. I dunno what's wrong, but I don't want to keep on making coasters. Here are all the programs I have related to burning (if it helps):

Alcohol 120% 1.9.5
CDRWIN 3.9K
DVD Decryptor 3.5.4.0
ISOBuster 1.9.1
Apache 2.0
CDGenPS2 3.0
Nero Sony Edition (only compatible w/ Sony drives) 6.6.0.8
UltraISO 7.22

Is there any program that I should get updated or some other program I should get in order to burn PS1 games?

EDIT: I tried using CDLoader to load the backups after I used a PS1 game (original) to refresh the TOC, but each time the screen turned red and the border was pink (nothing happened).

I read this topic and tried that and I had exactly the same problem. Have you ever got any games to work using this method

It might be the way I'm booting. I have copied PS1 games using 3 different methods, word for word, and it never works, and it not likely that the method doesn't work if it works for others, so maybe booting like I did just doesn't work. I think I'll just buy Breaker Pro and hope the backups work then. Unless there is a different program that is proven to work with PS1 backups.

Do you know why it doesn't work for any other PS2s? I'm asking out of curiosity, because I'm getting Breaker Pro anyway.
