Read the forum rules please. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487

What programs are you using? This could be the cause of your problems.

First lose the Caps Lock. It's considered rude. It's probably the media you are using or you are burning the disc too close to the edge. I have not done either movie, but with the right discs you probably would not be having this problem. What media? What programs are you using? Give us some info!

as per other posts, media likely culprit, and/or burn speed... more info please re what software and media you used. i successfully backed up both of these using dvd fab -> VOB blanker -> shrink, using verbatim media.

I tried to shrink Final Destination 3 and at 11% encoding it gave me an error (incorrect function--failed to read), so I went to VOB blanker and it said it had some IFOs? or something like that it would mark as skip and they were the biggest part of the movie so I figured it would not work---am I correct. Anyways I am trying dvdfab right now---what do I do if it works with that? Go to dvdshrink with the file or straight to dvd decryptor and burn it?

And yes, there are some bad copies of benchwarmers out there---I bought 2 that I had to return because they both messed up at the end of the movie...I called a local video store to see if they were having the same problem and they said some of their copies were messed up too, so they were sending them back.

Final Destination 3 has Sony ARccOS on it. That is not a problem for Fab to handle, however, if you want a high quality high % ration with Shrink then you will need to use VobBlanker.

There is a lot of unwanted material, previews, FBI, Rating, and I could probably go on that need to be removed. That is of course unless you want to shrink at 18% and that is very poor quality. Try to use VobBlanker to blank out the unwanted material so that you may get a high quality backup of the movie.

When I use VOB Blanker---does it matter that it says it is marking some files as skip? They seem to be the biggest files (# of KBs) or does it still process the movie despite that?

Yes it matters. The window is divided in two separate parts. On the top window tell it to process all. If you do not process all, you will not be able to burn the disk.

Now on the top window you may double click any item and then view what is inside it in another window that will pop up. This is where you may tell it to blank items you do not want.

In the bottom window it will display areas of the current file you have selected above. You may view these and blank them. Just remember that you half to have the top window process all. It only takes about 10 or 15 minutes to process. Play the movie on your computer before using shrink to make sure it processed correctly. I had to play with it at first until I was use to the way it processes the information.

Edit: Remember that you have to make two folders for the movie. One may be called the name of the movie and within that folder you should have one called VIDEO_TS. Example: d:\Ultra\VIDEO_TS

DId both Benchwarmers and Final Destination 3 with no problems. Used AnyDVD and Shrink combo worked great.

FD 3 does have that "choose thier fate" crap that kind messes with the size of the movie.

That large file might be the "alternate" versions for sections of the movie that is suppose to put you in control of thier fate (Or something like that)

BTW I use only TY's and
