were you very careful when you took off the top so you did not loosen or pull out the silver ribbon that connects the PS2 to the drive?
This could cause that problem.
That or possible the disc tray lid is too tight, or even the tray or laser not being in proper alignment

@horent135
When you say it spins weak does it match this description:
"the disk spins slowly a little, then seems to be coming to a stop, but speeds up a little again, then seems to stop, this happens a few times until it actually stops spinning?"

I have the same problem as Horent but I opened it to fix the laser arm, now when i put a game in it spins for about a tenth of a second, the broswer turns on and the laser moves but the disc does not spin, does it have something to do with the disc tray because i had to remove that during repair, please help.

I solved my problem, if you knocked the laser ribbon it will not recognize the disc and your disc will turn a 1/4 way. If you tighten the ribbon it should solve it, unless of course the laser is dead or the ribbon is beyond repair.

Hi!

If i put disc in ps2, it doesnt start it(that red screen appears).So i opened ps2 and cleaned lens(both). Now it even doest read any of discs. When i boot a game, motor doesnt spin, then i hit restart and it spins very slowly in some intervals than it stops...

Any idea?
