I've been trying to burn a Rurouni Kenshin disc (volume 12), and I keep getting an error with DVD Shrink that says the parameter is incorrect. I have been able to copy all the other disc in the series except for the one disc. I searched on the forum, and did find this

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110,

When it gets to the part where the DVD goes through DVD Decryptor though, I get a bunch of file errors. Is there any other way to be able to copy it? I tried ripping just files with DVD Decryptor, and that didn't work too

Rip to HDD first using DVDFab Decrypter and then proceed with DVD Shrink as usual.

I just go to open files right? When I try that it says, "Invalid data in file C:\DVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_8.VOB"

Anyone else have any ideas? Season 1, Season 3 and all the DVD's except for the one in Season 2 are fine.

@DX7879

you might want to edit the previous post to remove any doubt about your personal ownership of the disks you are asking questions about backing up. afterdawn forums are only for helping people back up disks they personally own.

Is the disc scratched or dirty? Could be that the original was unreadable at the point where you are getting the error...were all files ripped successfully? Have you tried running the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker?

The DVD is in almost perfect condition. No deep scratches or anything. It also plays fine on a DVD player. The DVD ripped fone on to my hard drive with DVDFab Decrypter. If I were to just use Shrink like normal on the DVD, it gives me the error about 70% during the first step where it analyzes the DVD

I'll try out VobBlanker

I think I may be using VobBlanker wrong, either that or I'm doing something wrong. These are the steps I did

Opened the program
Press browse next to "Input Video Manager (VIDEO_TS.IFO)"
Selected the file from my hard drive that I ripped with DVDFab Decryptor
Pick a spot for the output file
Pressed "Process"

It seemed to process it all fine, but I'm not sure

It seems to read the video files fine, and put it in the other folder I made. Is there something I'm suppose to be looking for when I process it?

Are you getting an error in DVD Shrink when transcoding the new files made with VobBlanker?

Can you preview that .VOB in VobBlanker, if you can and it seems to contain no video you might blank it.

I seem to be able to preview fine. I do notice that the preview for the menu under TitleSet seems to only play about 25% of the way and then go all the way to the end. The actual video seems to preview fine.

Thanks for all the help so far too

Is it part of the movie or some of the special features...if it looks like you don't need it, maybe try blanking it and see what happens.

It's just the menu features, such ast selecting chapters and stuff. I'm thinking of just burning the main movie without menus, since it seems to be a lot of trouble, but no idea on how. I always backed up my DVD's with Shrink.

Easy peasy...

Open DVD Shrink...choose Reauthor from the icon list at the top of the screen. Browse to the ripped files on your HDD, double click or drag the main title to the left side and proceed as usual removing all audio except AC3 5.1 and any or all subtitles you don't want or need and backup, burn with your favorite burn engine.

When I use the re-author option in DVD Shrink, no files show up when I select the folder that DVDFab Decryptor put them in. Of course when I try to select the file from the actual disk, it gives me "The Parameter is Incorrect" error

How about the files that VobBlanker outputted? Will they open in the DVD Browser?

Now that I think about it, I have reauthored a movie before, but that was from the actual disk. Anyways, when I go to the folder of the video, nothing shows up at all.

Is there maybe another program that may be able to back up the DVD, or read the DVD files that I have on my computer?
