So, up until this point Ihave been using DVD Shrink exclusively. yet, the more posts I read talk about Nero Recode being a good program (and one I haev on my computer). I have read the person that created Recode is the one who made Shrink hence why there are no more Shrink updates.

My question is this: Can I use Recode with AnyDVD just like Shrink (i.e. running in the background)? Or is there another step I need to take?

I also have DVDFab Decrypter on my computer if that helps.

I realize this question has been asked before, but I swear I did look. :-)

I do it that way. Easy as
1. Pop in movie
2. Turn on Recode/ select the drive(Video_TS file of movie)
3. It will run the same screen you are used to seeing with Shrink and options after that are the same too.

although i prefer ripit4me/recode2, AnyDVD (which i have)/recode2 is a excellent combo. speaking of transcoders, in terms of quality output, recode2 can not be beaten.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

In what order do you use ripit4me, Nerorecode2 and AnyDVD. I understand AnyDVD runs in the back ground.

Thanks

thanks pazzini. yes that is what i ment. one or the other, not together. i like to work from the hard drive instead of from the disc, so i rip to HD first, i prefer ripit4me to do so.

I've not used Ripit4me but have only heard good things.
Once you have AnyDVD it seems it turns the rest of the process into personal program preference. Since Nero (from what I understand) writes the file to a temp folder, doesnt that count as going to hard drive first?
There are many ways to get a good copy onto your computer, the "skill" is burning a good disc that will play flawlessly on any TV at your friends house when you go over to have fun. Only to find your disc doesnt play at his house even though it did at yours.

copying on the fly which is what you are talking about,is fine. i just prefer to have the files uncompress, clean, and decrypted in the hard drive and then use one of my favorite programs to compress.
this method takes a little longer, but i don't mind, to find a scratch or a dufficult files that at the middle of the transcoding process, is worse than the extra 25 minutes to take backing up to the HD first.
again. Ripit4me to HD/recode2 or shrink or rebuilder/IMGBurn is my way of doing it.
