converting armax codes for use on swap magic coder v3.8

hi just got the the new version of swap magic coder disc for ps2 and am delighted to say that all my back-ups work no probs!! however am having a bit of a problem using the cheat codes for my games. Now i understand you have gotta convert action replay max codes but am not sure wot format i should convert them to. the swap magic website says it supports action replay codes so using max convert v0.71 i have tried ar2 v1 format which runs the game but never seems to enable the cheats and have tried ar2 v2 which doesnt even run the game. there are other formats which you can convert to such as MAXRAW and RAW...is it any of them??

If anyone knows what i am talkin about and knows how to go about this please let me know!
