Okay here is the deal I've been burning movies for a couple of years using Nero and AnyDVD, with memorex media, never had any problems copied hundreds of movies. July rolled around starting with the matador, my dvd player starts freezing up and stopping, I read the forums all the time so i tried DVD Shrink with decryptor tried using verb. media tried encoding just the movie still same results. by the way my dvd player still plays all my other copied dvd's except the ones for the month of july. All my software is up to date. Could someone tell me what the deal is please?

Hi 1nitemare
Memorex uses different manufacturers so that may be part of the problem.
Stick on of those blank memorex's in you drive and in Nero go to ToolKit>Info Tool>disc tab. Whose's the manufacturer?
Same place click on drive tab and post back the firmware versionb along with the make and model of the burner.
What's the burn speed you're using?

Firmware - BYX5 (JUST DOWNLOADED TODAY, STILL NO LUCK)
BURNER - SONY DRU 710A
Media Manufac. - n/a (memorex, all I have left)
Speed - I've tried 4x all the way to 16x same results
Player - Sony & Panasonic both same results
I've wasted thirty blank discs this past two weeks, Im so upset! At first i thought it was the media because that was about the time i bought new media, but I bought verb. no different, most upsetting thing is that my movies never played on any of my friends players, until i tried the shrink decrypter combo now they play perfect on theirs and freeze and pause and don't even start on mine!

Well players can be picky - now this new spindle you are using (verbs too) - are they +r or -r? What is the format of the older back ups that still play?
Your drive is actually an oem LiteOn SOHW-1633S so if you are using +R you could booktype them to DBD-Rom to increase compatability.
Nero not being able to give the manufacturer info means more than likely that even though you have the latest firmware the media code for the manufacturer of the Memorex is not listed.
Do the ones that give you a problem playback ok in the PC?
Another suggestion that may help some is use a dvd lens cleaner on the players.

Glad to here you have done your homework :)
The CMC's you are using (eck! btw) are 16x and my guess is maybe the Verbs are too.
Your players may have a problem w/ the 16x speed media.
Since they playback in the pc and someone else's players leans me more towards your dvd players.
8x rated media may be the way to go for your players. Like Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji,Sony or Maxell.
Depending on where you are located 8x is getting harder and harder to find.

Does it matter that they are 16x if i burn them at 4x and 8x that might be why when i use a (memorex)dvd+rw(which are 4x)they work fine. Or since they are 16x is that how fast my player reads them? If so why work on my older ones and not my new ones? I live in Missouri, I'll try to find some 8x media and try that!

Thanks for the help peeps, i figured it out. It was my media but then again it wasn't. Seeing as the disc played on other peoples player and all computers the 16x rated disc would not play on mine. I checked a movie from every month for the last year and a half. All of them are 8x rated. So I guess chalk another one down to MEDIA! Thanks Binkie

No problem 1nitemare
Looks like your players don't like the 16x media. The 16x is just the rated burn speed of the disc.
Since it is somewhat newer media some players may not like it.
