How to Make XBMC Your Default Dashboard

ok fuz3 i installed the unleash x dash ok but when i turn my box back on like it tells me to i still have a normal xbox dash?? when i look in my memory it says unleash dash!!! so what am i doing worng or is that right???

Well my friends really old Xbox had got screwed up so I tryed to fix it. I figured out how to get Mech Assault to work and used SID4 to install the Evolution X dashboard. When I rebooted and pressed the A button to complete the softmod it went through fine. Then when I rebooted the final time it just gave me the Microsoft dashboard. The "ring of power" was lit red meaning the softmod was active but I didn't get the dash. I didn't feel like working on it much so I followed this tutorial on making XBMC my main dashboard and it worked out wonderfully. Whatever happened to the Evolution X dashboard I don't know but XBMC is good and he was happy it wasn't broken anymore.

ok fz i now got my unleash x dash to work now were do i go to fxp cause when i try to fzp to my box it doesnt work and i noticed a ip in bottom right corner so i tried that and it still doesnt work!! i dunno man

hey, FuZ3 .. thanks for the tutorial .. :)
i was able to successfully make XBMC as my dashboard .. but the thing is i can't FTP (via FlashFXP) it on my PC ..
in the Settings>Network, i manually changed the IP address (192.168.1.100), default gateway (192.168.0.1) and subnet mask (255.255.255.0) .. but i don't know where i should change (or add) the username and password ..
maybe you could help me how to configure the FTP in XBMC using FlashFXP .. :) .. much appreciated ..

First off thanks. But my setup is like this:

My Modem > Ethernet Cord > Router (WAN)
Router Port 1 > Computer
Router Port 2 > Xbox
First make sure the FTP setting is enabled. Once you have done that go into the "Network Settings" in XBMC and change the assignment to "Automatic(DHCP) and then make sure it saves and then reboot your Xbox. Then go back to the "Network Settings" and check out what it says your IP is. Then open up your FTP client and type in that IP address, Port: 21, and xbox for both the username and password and you should be connected.

The settings on the Unleash X dashboard should be perfect for FTPing. Just make sure the FTP setting is enabled. If it still doesn't work you can change the IP settings or whatever to Dynamic I believe it is which is the same as Automatic(DHCP).

how come i can't use the xbox360 skin? when i went to change the skin, the skin isn't highlighted .. only project mayhem II is highlighted ..

Just press "A" on the Project Mayhem skin and it will change.

whenever i choose the 360 skin (and pressed 'A') .. it says that the skin should be v2.0 or higher ..

From Photobucket.com take the link not the tag and then put it in the img tags.

It should work fine if you use both the XBMC and the MC360 I supplied you with it should work just fine.

Hey all - New here. Read the tutorial about putting XBMC as my main Daskboard only to have it not work and cause a minor problem that has been fixed. But my only question is should I rename the "default.xbe" to evoxdash.xbe in order for it to boot up? Right now i don't wanna chance doing that and possibly screwing anything up. :)

still have the same problem using that skin .. it still says that i should have a skin v2.00 or higher .. any idea why i'm getting that message?

you have to rename it inorder for your to boot to XMBC as your dashboard .. the existing "evoxdash.exe" is the file that your current dashboard uses .. so if you rename the "Default.xbe" (of your XBMC) to "evoxdash.xbe", when your Xbox restarts, it'll automatically boot and use XBMC as your dashboard

That is really weird. Since you have downloaded and used the same XBMC and MC360 skin as me. The only thing I could think to say would be to reinstall everything. But other than that I have no idea what's going on. But of corse you could also go to the Team Blackbolt forum and post for help there!
