I am using any dvd and clone dvd, but it rarely back ups my dvds. It says I have bad media. I tried different discs and took out all of my other programs that could be a problem. Could any body help me?

Have you been able to backup DVD's in the past with other programs. What is the make/model and current firmware of you burner? What brand media are you using?

so that software combination has been successful, at least sometimes. those two products are usually extremely reliable. is the AnyDVD up to date? it is often revised and you might need the latest version if you are trying to backup a recent dvd release.

you could try backing up using dvd fabdecrypter -> VOB blanker -> DVD Shrink, or ripit4me. both are free (see below for download and guide sites). that might give you some insight into whether the problem lies strictly with media and/or your burner.

let us know what happens.

You could try decent, quality media and an appropriate burn speed. These are the usual "cockpit errors" that one can be guilty of doing.

What is the make/model and current firmware of your burner? If you don't know use CloneDVD to find out it will give you that on the burn page. How fast are you burning at and what is the rated speed for your media i.e. 8x, 16x? Memorex is not the greatest in media they are not consistent in who mfrs the media. Maxell is okay as long as it is MIJ.

I have a Lite On DVD burner. My DVD speed is 16x, but I was told to burn at about 8x for a better quality. I also tried DVD decrupter and shrink but I always had trouble.

Go into Clone and find out what the model and current fw of your burner is e.g. Plextor 716a rev. 1.09

You weren't specific about the actual problem, but if it's that the DVDs don't burn, it's probably because of the media. Memorex and Maxell do not make their own media; they buy it from one of a dozen or so manufacturers. The only reasonably consistent store-bought brand is Verbatim. Taiyo-Yuden is considered the best by some though you can usually only get it mail-order. The rule a lot of folks go buy is only buy media made in Japan (MIJ).

You already have the latest firmware for your DVD writer so that isn't the problem.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

My burner is a LiteOn DVDSOHW 1693S rev(KSOB0. My problem is when I try to burn something always interupts it. Sometimes at the begining of writing and sometimes with about 98% of being done. It gives me and error saying probaly from bad media, but I tried different discs. At my store we really only get Memorex and Maxall.

I also get an error saying Data error( cyclic redundancy check). I don't know what it means.

CRC errors are usually media related, they can be protection errors but as you are not ripping just burning, it is a media problem. Can come from scratched/dirty or damaged disks. Burning too fast, try slowing yours down to 4x especially with those Memorex. Firmware that is not up to date, but yours is the latest. You can also try cleaning the laser on your lens, blow some canned air in it if you have it. Or try some other brand such as Verbatim and see if this makes a difference.
