My ps2 wont read my hdd.. i have a western digital 40gb

i tried with hdloaded, hd advanced, hdd utilies and it cant find the drive.. this thing keeps telling me to install hdd.. when the hdd is installed..

any help?

is it a compatible model. Did you check a PS2 hard drive compatibility list online.
Have you tried putting it into a PC and using Winhiip to format it.

You should have a look at the compatible hard drives list, this is one of the links:

Have a look there, you can also enter the model number of your hard drive and see peoples remarks about if it worked or not.
And like steimy said, format the drive using Winhiip, or another hd hard drive manager on the computer, is the hard drive partitioned?

My first reaction is, "Is the jumper set to master???"........

Check the jumper settings on the HDD. Make sure it is set to master, and it should be fine.

yes i used winhip to reformat the drive..

and it worked.. but i used the quick format method...
well at ps2drives. people say it fits and works.. but i did not work for me..

i guess i will resume this issue later.. i got a new 20gb seagate.. and it worked perfectly...

so.. yea.. when i try to use the western d again.. i'll come back for more help
