I have a laptop with windows media center, I have a 80 gig hard drive and it is partitioned into 60 and 20. I want to dual boot mac os x (intel version, if possible, if not others fine. For those who know, by know i've lost hope on hacking my way back in my mac g4, so I want to do something that's a little challenging. Just buying a new cd and reinstalling it would be so boring and simple.

I don't think that's possible.

Why not give Linux a try?

Dolphin's right on the money. Simply not possible or at least not the most feasible.

On the new Intel based Macs, you can dual boot without any issues. Getting the Mac OS to install on other chipsets...just doesn't have the proper support to function correctly.

It can be done.. Takes alotta work, alotta findling around with Mac OS X itself (at least the dmg/ISO) and alotta patience to find drivers that actually work.

OS X has been installed on NonApple hardware already.. There's tons of people happily dualbooting Windows XP/MCE/2000 with OS X.. some even have a 'Nix distro thrown in the mix

Nope I aint providing a link on howto get Mac OS X x86 or howto install OS X on NonApple hardware. a simple Google search will do that for ya

Although running Mac OS natively on PC hardware is not possible, there is another option--running Mac OS X on an emulator. But that will not give you the full OS.

Running Mac OS X naitively ( the Mac version ) on NonApple hardware is indeed impossible since the code was written for the Motorola processor and not Intel/AMD (x86)

BUT you can install and run the x86 version on NonApple (MacTel/Intel) hardware. It has been done aznd proven to be doable. But as I said, you gotta do alotta work, alotta fiddling with the OS itself (such as removing the TCPA/TCM DRM restrictions, tweaking SSE abilities)

Also try checking out the OSXx86 Project iffen you still have doubts.

So will this only work with Intels, or is it possible with AMDs as well?

Intel and AMD use the same hardware configurations. So what you do with a Pentium, you can do with AMD.

Quote from the OSx86 Project page:
There's no doubt that running OS X on your PC is illegal. If you used a torrent to download the installation disc, you're sharing copyrighted material. In the off-chance that you hacked it yourself, you're violating the EULA and the DMCA. Any way you look at it, it's obviously against the law.
