My Ps2 is a version 4 and is very old, well past warranty period, and has been taken apart numerous times for cleaning, adjustment and fixing. Recently my reset/eject buttons stopped working with a probable diagnosis that the ribbon cable was broken through too much fiddling. So today i purchased a new cable but until that comes (and considering that it may not fix the problem) i would like to be able to use my Ps2. Also my disc tray has been removed while i was looking inside and i can't get it aligned properly, especially without being able to reset it.
Is there a way to reset/eject manually without using the proper buttons?
I could also do with some help on re-aligning my disc tray...
It doesn't have any modifications like chips or anything, but i did make a slide type tool to try and start the thing by forcing it to eject but to no avail.
I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

You need the ribbon cable to get it to come on again, otherwise you will have to solder wires to the eject button and motherboard to get it to work. Under neath the tray there is a white gear that moves left and right, that enables the tray to set in or out, look at this picture, it will show you which one im talking about:

Remove your tray, and push the gear all the way to the left, dont force it, push it gently, then carefully place your tray back in, and it should be okay.
