I recently put Windows Xp Pro on my laptop and it's wireless. I work in an office where there are more than 1 wire-less routers around the building. I'm currently hard-wired right now. My problem is, it keeps searching for wire-less routers and this pop-up keeps coming up every couple minutes and I cannot get rid of it. I can't figure out how to disable that pop-up. I added it to the exclusions list and hid it from the task bar menu, but the pop-up still keeps coming up. Any suggestions would be greatful. Thanks

go to Control Panel > Network Connections. find your wireless connection and right-click > disable it. that will keep it from popping up. when ever you want to connect wirelessly again, then just go back to network connections and re-enable it

an easy solution is to disable your wireless connection until you use it again.

Go to start/control panel/network connections and right click on your wireless connection and select disable, when your ready for wirless connection again just right click and select enable (or double click on it)

Any more question feel free to ask :)

Thanks guys, but I have done that several times already and it cannot be disabled. It's freaking weird. I've never seen it before. I know how to turn them on and off, but it's messed up or something. Any other suggestions?

when you try to disable the wireless connection, do you get an error message?

You can edit the balloon function in the registry, but it will disable all balloon functions and not just one.

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.

2. Navigate to the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

3. Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.

4. Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0.

If you do not know how to use the registry DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS!
