And why do people continue to think that DVD Shrink, or anything on the market now, will be able to back up HD-DVDs and Blu Ray dvds?

Just because "DVD" is in the title of a program and/or these next gen discs are "DVDs" doesn't mean they are the same format.

For the sake of argument, if DVD back up programs originated in 2000, and these new next generation discs came out in 2005, why would the old program be able to recognize new discs? Just like old programs, like Shrink and Decryptor, are not able to handle newer DVD titles on its lonesome.

Shrink or Decryptor backing up next gen DVDs is like asking a CD burner to back up a DVD.

Sorry.

Back on topic, yes it will be possible (why wouldn't it?), but not now--and especially not with our current programs.
