hi can someone please recommend the best programs to convert original dvds to good quality AVI XviD or mpeg thanx
and state wether the programs are free or not
also i just need a program to convert the main movie to the above video formats not any extras

Many times Nero Vision Express comes bundled with the purchase of the DVD burner and make very good quality AVI's.

ive had no luck with this program cant get it to work also it seems it only converts individual vobs and u have to open them seperately to convert

Look in my sig. The program isn't free, but it perfectly preserves your DVD quality to achieve extremely small files (usually less than 700 MB)!
