Well, for my internet provider, the internet is set up to connect to only 1 computer based on its mac address. So, if you unplug the cable from your computer and plug it into your ps2, the internet checks the mac address, sees it doesn't match, and wont connect. So, you either have to pay extra to have both connected, or get a router. Its just a warning, not all internet providers work like this.

im qa windows man ..and i no it works becoz my broadband box has an ethernet cable bit on the side..soo it must work

Just so I have a better idea of what your working with, can you tell me the name/manufacturer/etc of your broadband box? For example, im using a motorola surfboard SB5101.

it has a big bunch og icons like woireless and phones andalerts and suchthat bout it and my broadbad cble and 2 ethernet plugs on the side
