I bought a flip top, got my brother to install it but the ps2 wouldn't work with it on so he removed the lid and just left the cd drive exposed(so the top could be taken off and on when playing games and dvd's). It worked fine for a few days and then the ps2 was moved to another room, again it seemed to work fine but the next day it was completely dead and the power wouldn't even turn on, 5 think someone spilled water on it or something. I originaly thought the power eject cable was the cause of the problem, could it be? If it's not what could the probelm be and can it be fixed?
It is possible that your brother may have damaged the power, eject cable when connecting or removing the fliptop. everthing else seems in tact though , so it sound like that or your power board. Im not sure what they cost to replace but some1 around here will tell you. Iknow they cost 30 pounds to buy , but then you got the replacement charge ontop of that unless you choose to do it your self
How would I know which ribbon to get there's either a 5 pin or a seven pin and my ps2 is version I think it's 7, there are six screws in it. The power/eject cable has snapped off soI would need to replace that but I don't know if just doing that would fix it.
Firsly, re-atach the ribbon cable first, and make sure that thats the cause, is the ribbon cable damaged, you said it has snapped off, normally it looks snapped of when its disconnected, and if water was dropped inside the console, then its fried.
yes but if your ps2 is completely moned like he said get a slimline for 96 pounds..not exacly streatching the ballance...but if you want help just say please
