Hey geys heres my issue
I have a compaq 1750nx with a dual layer dvd burner. I had been using any dvd and clone dvd with no problems. but my dvd rom died. so i went and got a hitachi 8000 .
Now when I tried o copy a dvd using the rom as the reader my fox goes dull.
and clone dvd said this dvd is copy protected. now I thought that any dvd fixed that. I neer had this problem before. and I paid for the software so i want to use it

@dyson77,
Right click AnyDVD, go into settings, drives. Does AnyDVD recognize your Hitachi? If not, I would suggest uninstalling, then reinstall.

Uninstall and reinstall AnyDVD, that is. Your Hitachi should show up in 'drives' with a tick. I believe you can option to leave the registry key when uninstalling. In the past you could. The fox should dull, then turn red again if working properly.

What region are you? As you have a new drive, do this first:
Go to my computer, right click local disc c, properties, hardware, find your dvd-rom drive, highlight it, properties, dvd region, then check your region

@dyson77,
AnyDVD should have taken care of the region codes. I was getting the copy protected error with my DvdXCopy and a new drive. The above was how I fixed it.
I would suggest you trying to read with your burner drive and if that comes up with errors, you need to clean the disc. It could be dirty or scratched.

Have you tried re-installing??
Is the new drive otherwise working well, i.e., can you play music cds and dvds with no problem???

Good to know it worked. My older burner/dvd rom drives came region set, but for some reason my newer ones weren't. I ran into the same problem, but using DvdXCopy.
Happy burning!
