I have a problem with my Swap Magic 3.6.

I bought this product - http://www.console.com/product_info.php/products_id/91 and installed all the orange bits in my PS2 as an alternate to mod chipping for my SCPH-7000x.

I followed the guide - http://www.console.com/product_ps2_pstwofix.php but I think I may have done it wrong as when I open the PS2's tray after loading the swap magic program, it instantly says "Insert bigger TOC disc". And if I insert another disc (back-up or regular) it says not a valid ps2 disc instantly without even checking it (it does this if I just close the lid with no game in also).

On the product page it says that you can play games with the lid open or closed. However, turning the ps2 on with a disc inserted and the lid open does nothing. So I am thinking that I have installed the 3rd bit wrong (the one near the spring).

I have been successful in loading a game by booting up the Swap Magic, waiting for the load program screen to come up, and then carefully oopening the CD tray half way so the ps2 doesn't respond, and sliding the boot disc out and inserting my back-up game without opening the lid too much. This booted the game fine but was very hard to do as I had to be careful to not open the tray too much. So obviously the Swap Magic works, but I think the orange bits may be installed wrong as the ps2 responds whenever I open the tray too much (the lens moves back but the machine does not reset).

Am I right in thinking the 3rd bit (labelled C on the guide) is in wrong or could it be some other problem. How do I install these orange bit correctly?

Please help. Thank you.

it is the third tool and to install it you have to push it down all the and let it stay there if it doesnt put a little tape (electrical tape black one)on the switch and it should be pushed down try this if this doesnt help then the problem is something else.

you will need to open the ps2 up for that method but try mines and just put some tape on top of the tool c so it will stay there trust me this works.

Thank you for all your help, but I think it is as far down as it will go and is very hard to get back out.

My tool A is very sensitive and sometimes comes out (not too much of a problem) but Tool C stays where it is. Could it be in wrong?

Do you think I should try to yank it out of the slot and try again? I don't want to break it.

try that but if you close the lid a little if the disk spins then it is something about tool c and if it doesnt then it is a problem with tool a try putting some tape on that too if it helps.

Yes the disc does spin if the lid is down half way. So it must be tool C. But I don't want to risk yanking it out as it may snap and then I won't be able to play my import/back ups without opening up my ps2.

It goes in different that I first thought. At first it was all the way down to the surface but angled slightly. I finally got sick of opening the lid half way so I tried to put it in differently.

It turns out it needs to be in so that it is 'springy' not solidly fitted. The tool raises and lowers slightly when pushed if it's in properly, then the tray can stay open and play discs. Just thought I'd tell people in case they stumble across this post with a similar problem.

I have the slim PSTwo. And how is altering the look of the machine better than a fix that doesn't affect it in any way? I have seen pics of the fliptop lid and it looks ghastly.

I have the flip top lid, this is the type of PS2 (and tools for which) I am talking about.

I leave the lid open as a disc is running most of the time though, because it's difficult to fit the tool that goes in the lid's catch without it finding it's way out again (even with the aid of blu-tack) - With the lid closed, bumps on the floor make the tool come loose and the game's music will cut-out, then if the game reaches a point where it has to load something from the disc it will freeze...

Oh, you mean the 'flip top lid' is some sort of fix for the slimline PS2? I don't have that, and don't reckon I need it either!
