I'm getting a Slimline Playstation 2, and I'd like to be able to play games online. So I was wondering, what hardware do I need to set it up for online gaming, and how do I set it all up so it's ready to go online.

broadband internet is all you need (and a network cable to hook it up with). A router would make the setup a lot easier.

I take it that the network cable is just the cable you plug into your modem to access the internet, and you just have to plug that into the PS2.

Yes, you might get lucky and it will work. Depends on your ISP, mine wont let me do that (thats why i use a router), while others will.
