Hi cza
More are coming out w/ more security but if you can copy them to your hardive or burn w/ Shrink (Nero) you maybe haven't come across these yet.
Things that may be giving you a problem - here's some questions for you:
°Make , model and firmwre version.
°Brand of media using and rated speed - like Sony +r 16x
°Burn speed used
use better blank media Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim and burn a 4x or NO faster than 8x.
also make sure your running the latest firmware on your drive. burning on a clean machine without other programs running while your burning is important too
I use only DVDShrink and the latest AnyDVD. I always use re-author mode. I use very good dvd media. I NEVER have a problem and never gets skips. My advise, forget trying to compress the whole disk with all that junk and menus. Also, don't burn to end of the media.
Quote:Every movie that I back up is skiping alot and frezing up on me
How are you viewing those backups when those issues occur?
Stand alone player/s or PC?
Do you use paper/sticker labels?
Make sure the DVD-RW drive that burns those backups, plays it.Playback should look near original in quality.
95% of those issues are usually with stand alone players.
Bilbo65 listed just a few of the culprits. I'll add some more possibilities:
5) Fragmented harddrive- Keep HD defragged.
6) Burn program-try another
7) Spyware/registry errors
8) Heat
9) Paper/sticker labels- major no-no
10) Dirty laser lens-usually stand alone player.
There's a lot more, but those are the most common culprits.
Start with quality media-Ty or Verbatim,4x burn speed. Defrag the HD or HDS.Keep the registry clean. No labels,no multi-tasking.
Then: Burn a backup. Test in all your DVD-RW drive/s and stand alone player/s.See how each of those drive plays that backup.Maybe even test it on some friends/family members players. The more drives, the better.
Majority of those issues, after ruling out 1-9 is a dirty laser lens on a stand alone player. A lens cleaning may be due,but that is a last resort, before replacement.
