I have a wireless network setup in my home, and it works okay, but sometimes the connection breaks on the host computers, which are laptops, and then they are unable to connect back, giving the "limited or no connectivity" with the exclamation mark on the connection. Then i cant connect, and i have to try various things on both hosts and the main computer that is connected to the wifi router. Can anyone tell me what these exclamation marks are really trying to say.
Basically, when you get a 'limited connection' error, it is because you are unable to get an IP address from the router. What is your IP when this happens? Does is change to 169.x.x.x? If so, its because the router was unable to issue an IP to your wireless card. How is your signal strength? Do you have a cordless phone in the house? They typically run the same frequency (2.4 ghz) that the wireless network does. Try changing the channel in the router to one at least 3 numbers away. Hell, maybe its even your neighbors cordless that is screwing you up. I would probably change the wireless channel first and see what happens.
Ok, i tried the channels, didnt work, was just a network setting screw up on the main computer. When i connect my router directly to my ADSL modem, only one computer is able to connect to the router, why is this?
