okay so i have a really bad pentium 2 computer in my room with a wireless adapeter hooked to it and a network card in it so i use that computer to access the internet with my xbox 360 it works fine speed is very good it just that one day i tried to do the whole media center thing but i figured out that my computer is to crap. So i was thinking that i have a very very very good dell downstairs and it has media center and is ready hook to xbox 360 but i cant bring my xbox downstairs because i dont want to so is there any way that i can get me xbox 360 to connect to the internet using the pentium 2 but stream using my dell downstairs using i dont know something like port forwarding? i have no clue but anyone can figure this out will be god to me and will have thier name in my sig forever!(as if anyone cares).
Hmmmm in short no.Port forwarding is something else. It's when you open up a port on the router so one of your apps(or whatever)can get access.
For more about port forwarding go here.It has every router with instructions and pictures on how to forward ports.

Why not just get a wifi router and wifi card and install the wifi card on the dell that way you wont need the pentium 2.There lots of combinations of wifi as well.
i cant bring the dell in my room. Also this is the setup it goes from my xbox 360 to pentium to with wifi then to downstairs dell which hooked to the router so it goes router signal-wifi reciever attached to pentium 2-network card on pentium 2-then xbox 360 s you are saying that the dell with media center can dectet the xbox?
This is a very hard question to answer becasue i need more info on your setup. Both PC are connected to your network? Wired or wireless. Do you have a router?
First if you have a router, just connect everything to the router and you shouldnt even need the old p2.
ok, another thing. Why do you need to connect to the p2 for internet access, just hookup your 360 to the ethernet. If its becasue of wireless, just buy a wireless adaptor for your 360.
I take it your p2 has 2 network cards? One for the wired and your wireless. Well you can do a software bridge between the Pcs but i really think that is making things overly complicated.
Anyways write back with your entire setup description. Ie where your modem is, if you have a router(If not, you should have one for a hardware firewall alone) how everything is connected.
yeah thanx but i dont see the point in buying a wireless adapter if what i got now works just as good u know? so can u explain this bridging thing plz if u have time? i called microsoft and they said i have to open all ports on my router which i did, but didnt work. Thanx for the reply
