i have comcast cable and i have a digital recorder box in other words it saves shows and movies to the box. Is there a WAY TO HOOK UP MY COMPUTER TO THE BOX AND RECORD MY SHOWS TO DVDR TO WATCH ON MY DVD PLAYER

You could just to CompUSA and get a cheapo DVD Recorder. The cheaper the recorder, the better chance it can record copy-protected flags.

I don't think in your case it makes a diff.
By the looks of it - cheapest is best for what you want...well;
