Hi

I just changed my 'external' Hard Drive into become an 'Internal' Hard Drive because my original Internal Hard Drive got virus on it. Then I'd install Windowx XP in that new Hard Drive. After it installed, when it was restart again, when it came to the starting the Windows, my screen went black and then the monitor light turn orange and it just keep black out until it restart again. Then it's doing it over and over again. I did put the jumper into the new HD but i'm not very sure if it is right. But then when I tried to reinstall my old Hard Drive (the one that got virus on it), it's doing the same thing. I don't really understand the problem so I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

Thank you so much and I've really appreciate it

Have you check if the connections to the drive are OK?? May be something loose.

^^ I'm with him. Double check that you didnt accidentally knock something loose while you were swapping the drives. Pull your memory and re-seat them. Make sure all your fans are running, etc.

Thankx again!

If you can get in with Safe Mode, then it might just be a driver issue...but you didn't specify which drive you used.

In any case, you might be able to use safe mode to install the motherboard drivers and then try again.

what kind of driver issue do you think it might be? Could it be it something to do with the 'jumper'? I put the jumper on the HD but i wasn't sure if it is the right place. and sorry i didn't quite understand what you mean by specifying the driver that i used?

Thankx :)

Frist off can your mobo boot from USB devices? msot newer oens can you jsut have to setup the bios right.

to get the HD to show up soemties you have to set the Master/Slave/Cable select mode on it and soemtiems on some drives you have to remove the pin altogather,I hate paying with pins its quite annoying.

the enxt thign you can do is if you have a virus program thats boots from its CD but out of date defintions might not remvoe the more annoy virus.

Hi

When I said that my comp can't get into the Windows and would stop until the Microsoft XP logo then it restart. Then I left it for a while and now it can get in but it display this error:

Windows - Display Drivers Stopped Responding

The nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed, giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft.

But when I restart the comp, I cannot get it anymore....

do you get this same message from both hdds? try installing the mobo drives in safe mode, as morph and zippi suggested. otherwise, i think the problem may be hardware related.

what is mobo drive? i did try to install the graphic card driver in safe mode but i couldn't. It got an error message like this 'there is no NVIDIA driver found' or something like that....i think it something to do with the graphic isn't it, since the comp went off when it was trying to get into the windows and now i got that message too?

thankx :)

Ok, too many things going on here at once..so let's slow down and take this one step at a time.

You can boot to safe mode.

You cannot boot to normal mode because of Nvidia driver problem.

No worries, cuz you have a way in. Download a program called Driver Cleaner, and put it on a CD or flash drive. Then, try booting again into safe mode. Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the Nvidia display drivers. Reboot. If you have Driver Cleaner handy, install, and run that program after getting back to your desktop. Choose to remove anything from Nvidia.

After that is done, (if you have them) use the drivers that came with the video card's CD. If not, you can try using the latest from their site.
