As most of you may have seen,I've had trouble with my dvd tray,and recently I was thinking,is it possible to swap discs with the cover(from the inside of the ps2,that is directly over the tray) off,I mean like having the ps2 cover off and this other one.
Is it possible to do that or would it burn out the laser?

It wouldnt burn out the laser, but it would be open to all the dust & particles that float about in the air. Plus, the disc will most likely not spin properly, due to nothing holding it in place.

So..could I take the cover off,swap discs and put it back on?

I know it's time consuming..but I'm getting impatient.
