Please help me. I've tried everything. I've been using shrink forever and now it won't work. I've unistalled Shrink and Nero 5 times. I followed the advice here but nothing works. I know my burner works.

You may need a firmware update. The latest for Pioneer is 1.22. If this is a Sony or Medion PC than you have the latest.

Your drive though fully recognizes the media you are using though - made by Ritek - 8x media. Okay discs better to use would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Hey, thanks for all the help. I changed the borders. I switched to a RW because I am tired of throwing away so many discs. I don't know if that will mess it up though. I know it won't be good for playing back. Here is that latest log.

Your new error(s) Power calibration error & Unable to recover TOC can be caused by a few things. 1st one is media so to rule that out try some different media.
Recommended ones are listed above.
Now for the firmware - is this a Sony or Medion pc?
Last address to be written: 2286127 (508:01.52, 4465MB)
Your target size is still set to burn to the edge of the disc - but in this log your failure happens whithin a minute - so probably didn't make a diff.
Did you try the RW disc? Won't mess anything up - if you have written to it before make sure you do a full erase.

Hi ceejay66
Ok since you have the Sony PC your firmware is up to date.
Now for the Fuji's I had to break the news to you but they are made by and have the same media codes are the previous ones you were using Disc Manufacturer ID: RITEK, Media Type ID: R03, These made in Taiwan Fuji.
Looks like you went back down to Nero API version: 6.3.1.25
from 6.6.0.18.
Would still be best to try different media (Verbatim ,made in Japan Fuji,Sony or Maxell).
Another thing to try - thinking you still have the files on your hard drive from Shrink is to try ImgBurn (free). You'll need to use the build option to burn. Here's a link and a guide:

Now for the rest of what causes power calibration errors - here's what Nero has (for dvd's too):
I get a 'Power calibration error' or 'Calibration area (almost) full' error message. Why?
Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder.
Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). During the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC).
This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times.
If you receive the "Power calibration error" or "Power calibration area is (amost) full" error message, the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder.
Please try the following solutions:
* Update the firmware of your recorder. Please check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
* Try another brand of CD-R or CD-RW media.
* Try different power connectors, and for recorders, do not share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, the power source in the chassis could be the cause. As a test, try to take the recorder out of the external chassis and connect it internal.
* Try different configurations, such as taking the CD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.
* Send the recorder in for service.
I'd start with th media and checking the connections esp the power connector. If you have a free power connector try it.

Hi,
Well I was elated for a minute. I was successful with one good burn. I used a Verbatim DVD+RW. I've tried 2 Verbatim +R with no luck. Although now I'm not getting the power error. What I don't understand is why all this time I've used whatever media and it almost always worked and now it doesn't. I've burned alot of successes. Anyway I really appreciate all the help. Here is the latest log.

Ok few more suggestions.
These burn fails almost at the end. Good media too and recognized by your drive - try burning the 16x verbs at 8x -see if it makes a diff.
Try a lens cleaner on the drive - clean the lens up a bit.
Next check the power connection - try another one.

Hey, I bought a new burner. So far I'm all tweatered. I've burned 2 dvds in 20 minutes and they look great!! Thanx for all your help!
