Media Centre 2005 - No Internet Explorer?

Hi

Ive just installed Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 on my pc - installed disk 1 ok, then disk 2 ok.

Got near the end of installation and it asked me to 'insert Windows XP SP2 disk' (which I dont have on disk as I have always used windows update to do this after hooking to the net directly after the clean install) So I clicked 'cancel' and it continued the install.

Anyway after booting up I noticed that under the start menu there was only a shortcut to Internet Explorer and not the actual icon. So basically I can get onto the net now to download SP2 which no doubt includes Internet Explorer :s

Erm what should I do? :s

well actually,sp2 should not affect wether there is an intenet explorer shortcut or not,or an icon...but if you do need sp2,just download it,and besides you can get sp2 on cd for free from microsoft,just go on their site and have them send it to ur house,and it' free,but it took a month to get to me...

No offense, but isn't this the wrong section to be posting Windows questions on? This section of the forums is for Xbox 360 questions.

But as far as your question...

I had the same problem. It tells you to insert the Windows XP SP2 disk, but it words it wrong. What it means for you to do at that point is re-insert the Windows XP Media Center CD1 back into the drive. I guess they just labeled it wrong for what disc to re-insert. Hope that helps.

Also just make sure you are posting under the correct section in the future. :)

Go to start>settings>control panel click add/remove programs then on the menu on the left choose add/remove windows components,On that list check
internet explorer click next. When it starts it will probably ask for a disk insert your windows media center disk 1 or 2 whichever it accepts(Which by the way you should have done before when it asked for a disk)and that should be that.
