Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me with a firewall problem on "Timesplitters:Future Perfect" for Ps2. I have a D-link DSL-504G Router and am trying to get around some online issues, The problem is that i cannot Host/or Create a working game. The other problems is that i cannot chat to other people in the room except for the host. And it is very hard to join games Etc..etc..I have gone great lengths to getting this fixed like upgrading my connection speed to 3.5Mps, and i have payed for a Static IP address, which is "222.154.245.182". I have tried putting my Playstation 2's IP address in a DMZ. But i have had no luck, as my Ps2's IP address keeps changing to 192.78.78.0, i have tried making a manual configuration on my ps2 and have gave it an ip address of "10.1.1.3" I think my Computers Ip address is "10.1.1.1". I am currently opening some ports for Timesplitters. which are..."TCP 80,TCP 443,UDP 3000,TCP 13505,TCP 18070/18075,UDP 18075" I will see how it goes tonight and will keep you posted. Any help will be good. cheers

did you try putting the ps2s IP on the DMZ after you changed it to 10.1.1.3? Also, you're probably wasting your money getting a static IP because I don't think that would make a diff and same goes with the upgrade in speed (although, the upgrade in speed will help with lag) It most likely has to do with ports which you suspected in the first place.

I heard that you must have a Static IP address to do portfowarding?

And yes i put my Playstation 2's IP address(10.1.1.3) in the DMZ after i assigned it with 10.1.1.3.

If my playstation 2 is online and i go to my routers settings, and i click "DHCP", It shows two connected devices. "10.1.1.2" being my computer, And "10.1.1.3" being my PS2.

Even if i have not assigned my PS2 with an ip address and i do a auto setup, it still shows 10.1.1.3 under DHCP in my router settings.
And i know its my PS2, because it also shows its physical address/(Mac Address) . Which is..."00:04:1F:1B:2F:95".

Also...Under my routers settings... There is a list of WAN options choose from, which are..

"Dynamic IP Address",
"Static IP Address",
"PPPoE/PPPoA",
"Bridge Mode".

By default it is currently on PPPoE/PPPoA setting.
which i have a user name to connect..

I have phoned my Internet Server provider, and they said even tho my router is set on PPPoE/PPPoA mode, my Static IP should be working fine and they are unsure if i am to change my router settings to "Static IP Address".

But i have also heard that some games Headsets dont work with PPPoE.

My PS2 and CPU are connected to my router via eithernet cable directly.

And I am unsure if these things can interfere with online gaming..>>

A. PAl/European Console (I am from Newzealand)

B. 160GB Hard Disk Drive.

C. NTSC Network Adaptor.

D. PAL Network Startup Disc.

E. MODCHIP (It can be turned off)

I think the biggest problem is that my PS2's IP Address wont change.

If i do a auto setup on my PAL Startup Disc, and succefully complete a Diagnostics test, I can view which IP my PS2 connected to.(I think)

IP ADDRESS: 192.78.78.0
MAC ADDRESS: 00:04:1F:1B:2F:95
DNS 1: 10.1.1.1
DNS 2:

Can someone please help me, i have been working on this for about a year or so,
please note that i am not technically literate, what yourve read is just what i have learned these last 6 months.

Cheers

hmmm, so I guess it's a router and dsl modem in 1 that you have. PPPoe is the correct setting because if you change it to static IP, it doesn't ask you for username and password (at least my router doesn't) and you won't be able to connect to your ISP. What I find strange is that the router shows the ps2 as 10.1.1.3 yet in your ps2 setup the ip address is 192.78.78.0 have you tried putting both these IPs on DMZ at the same time (if your router can do that because mine only does 1 on the dmz at a time). I'm still thinking the problem has to do with ports being blocked. Although, it could be due to scratches on the disc. With Fifa 2004 (or was it 05) I would go online and it would work fine, and online game would start but about 3 min into the game it would freeze. Turned out this was due to a scratch on the disc.

Hmmm, ive had that same problem with timesplitters. Except it only freezes while playing created maps online...

And sadly my router can only allow one IP to be put on the DMZ..

Just so you know, a while back i had a connection with a different ISP. This was when i first got connected with broadband, and was the first time playing Timesplitters online.

I could join allmost any game, host/create games, talk to all players in the room via headset, and play Created Maps online.

It was the best gaming experience ive ever had, And i was moving up the ranks pretty fast. LMAO!

I had a 2.5Mbps connection, i think i had a Dynamic IP Address. and i had a Router with a Single Eithernet Port, with a CrossOver Cable going Into my Room to my Playstation2. This was before i had my Ps2 HDD.

Everytime i wonted to use my computer, i would switch on my router and plug a eithernet cable into the port at the back of the router.

When i wonted to play my PS2 , i would swith off my router, and change the eithernet cable to the one in my room. then i would switch the router back on.

I would then start up my PS2 and disable my modchip then start up timesplitters.

This was working great for about 2 months. but then out of nowhere i was having problems.

Now i have moved out of home to another location. And have got a new ISP with a D-Link 504G router, 3.5Mbps Connection, 10Gb usage, and a static IP.

I still think the problem is my ps2 wont change its IP address to the one i set it to.

And i think its cause the PAL version of the network access disc is very different to the NTSC version. with the NTSC disc you can litterlly Manually set the PS2 with a custom IP Address, while the PAL version , is a whole lot of Fvcking arround..

Maybe im doing somthing wrong.

Im at the point of giving up, so i think i will have a few more games before i do.
