Also do i enter the restriction code by putting in sim card of a different network or do i have to put in a t mobile sim?

I entered the restriction code and it worked but then it shut down automatically, it started up again as well and asks for the time and date, after entering that it says 'Incompatible Handset' and after pressing OK or Back it goes to Phone Restricted Message.

The phone was given as a contract phone to my mum. But she doesnt use it anymore because she got an upgrade so now i would like to use it. Im trying to use 3G sim.
