hello,
I hope this forum is ok for the question.
I just downloaded the trial version of AnyDVD and dvdclone2 when I backed up a couple of my dvds they would only play in my computer. Not my dvd player. Is this because it is the trial version or is there a setting on AnyDVD that I am missing? My player will play dvd+ and - as this has not been a problem after using dvdxcopy.
Thanks...

Trial version is fully operational, should not be the problem. Maybe is the media your using; and/or your drive needs a firm update. Have you tried playing the dvd in a different player??

try burning with DVD Shrink. do "open disc" with AnyDVD running in the background. thats what i use and never had any problems. if that doesnt work then ya, try a firmware update for your drive. but first, wat media r u using?

You may be burning too fast. CloneDVD2 will burn at max speed by default so you may want to slow it down to 4X and see if that helps.

Thanks for the help,
The media in question was Memorex DVD+R. They would not play in my nice Sony player, but as suggested I tried a cheap Daewoo and a Cyberhome player and they played fine in both. Go figure.
I then burned the same DVD again on Phillips DVD-R and it played fine in the sony. I have never had problems with the +R in that player before, so I will try a slower burning speed as I was using "max" speed.

Thanks again,

Speed is more than an opinion. Burning at max may work on your system but there are a ton of different burners, firmware versions, media manufacturers, media lots and hardware configurations that are all a factor in the final results.

Stay away from the Memorsux media.

If you want to find out what quaility media it is then find the Manufactur ID# of the blank media and look at the link below. The link is a guide of quaility media by Manufactur ID#

For video you want to stick with class 1 media. If the ID# is class 2, 3 or 4 then get better media. I bet you will find that the Memorex disc are probably Class 3 or 4.

If you have Nero you can find the ID# by doing the folowing....

Put in a blank DVD.
Go to Nero Info tool and run it.
After it scans choose the DISC TAB
in the list should be the manufacturs ID#

Look at the link below for class of the media.

Also as Neph said. Burn at a slower speed. I never go faster then 4x anyway. Some do but I would rather take the extra time to burn and make sure I get a good burn. More of a possibility of disc read errors if you burn fast.

I ran Nero info tool-- manufacture ID (prodisc R04) . So I guess that means it is class 4?

yeap it is 2nd class media. I have 2 cheap DVD players and they will play anything I throw at it. But I do have 2 DVD players that are a little bit better and they wont play some of the cheap media I used to buy.

So now I only get class 1 media (TY's or Verbatims) they wrok perfect in all DVD players.

Aha, stay away from memorex. Verbatims are really good and not too pricey.
