It seems like some Dash's change the colors of the led light just for aesthetic touches. But are you saying that it doesn't work at all? Like, it won't load games or anything else?

If your XBox FRAGs then it's probably a bad solder point on the header pin or the D0. Check the soldering job. If two are touching or one doesn't look very full you may need to add a bit. I had the same problem when I installed my Xecuter but it was a quick fix.

well if it isnt booting correctly, then you really need to take it back to the place you bought it from, and have them replace/fix it. Because FRAGing is almost alway the sign of a botched soldering job.

I still can't identify the chip but there is an two leds on it one green and one yellow. now when i turn it on it comes right on and starts flashing green and red and gives me the xbox needs service message.

If its solderless did you try taking it off the adapter? Try taking it off and booting. If it boots properly without the chip the adapter isnt seated properly. Could have gotten a bang on the way home. Dont unscrew the adapter for the mo just take the chip off the adapter!

Use this to find out what chip: http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips4_table.htm

Also, you say you have Avalaunch on there, the reason your box is FRAG may be a bad BIOS flash on the chip. If you have a backup BIOS bank boot from it and reflash the primaries.
