The red milky way is the result of trying to load CogSwap from AR Max (new version) through CD Loader (pendrive).

What I am using:

-- FAT PS2 v7 (SCPH-39001)
-- Action Replay Max Evo Cheat disc(new version -- Tin Can)
-- Action Replay pendrive
-- Cog Swap Loader (burned with IC3)
-- CD Loader (on pendrive, loaded with AR Max)

What I've done:

First, I followed jjax's guide to running backup's with AR Max. Note, I wasn't trying to do the MC Exploit, just trying to boot CogSwap from the new AR Max.

So, burned CogSwap onto a Maxell CD-R at 4x and 1x with IC3. Loaded Cd Loader onto the pendrive. Then successfully loaded CD Loader with AR Max media player. But when I swap to the burned CD-R with CogSwap, BAM! The red milky way of doom. CogSwap never loads.

Media -- Maxell CD-R burned at 1x -- this can't be the prob, right?

Question: I noticed a lot of people had this problem with FAT PS2 using jjax's guide. So I'm wondering, everybody that had the problem, we're you trying to do the exploit (with a burned PSX game loaded with elfs)? Or were you just trying to boot a CD-R with CogSwap on it?

Has anybody had this problem with loading CogSwap from CD Loader and AR Max, and overcome it?

Also, if my CogSwap CD-R will not load this way, would it be feasable to try a PSX game loaded with elfs (as in the MC Exploit)? If not, then it would have to be my media, correct?

Burn Info:

-- Nero 7 (Image Burn)
-- PlexWriter CD-R at 1x & CyberDrv CW088D CD-R/RW at 4x
-- Both with Maxell CD-R Music 80min/700mb

Can anyone shed some new light on this problem?

Or, is there another way to load CogSwap on a FAT PS2 with AR Max new version?

why bother trying to get cogswap to load after cdloader, cdloader can do everything cogswap can do plus more.
Just use cdloader for what ever you want to boot.

So, how would I load a DVD-R backup? Would I still have to use the high TOC first, then do a swap for the DVD-R?

I'll try and report back...

...Okay. The problem I am having is that the high TOC game doesn't stop spinning for me to swap, and when I press Triangle the ejection tray pops open. This is assuming that the game would even load if I could get it to stop.

Would this work? And how could I get the high TOC game to stop spinning?

Once you put the high TOC game into your ps2 in cdloader, you press X to load the initial boot code. On the next screen that says 'EA Method', the disc will have stopped spinning & you use your swap method to change for the backup.

I got the "Invalide Media" error. I guess Fifa World Cup 2006 is one of the games that doesn't work with CDLoader.

Works well with CogSwap, though. Strange.

AR Max 3.32+ does not run CogSwapLoader, let alone most other boot loaders. There is one exception, and a tutorial is listed, however, the name is not at the top of my head right now...sorry, but 3.30 will gladly execute just about anything you throw at it (and was my tool of choice until it cracked in half (like the game I was using it to play (lol).))
