I converted some AVI video files with VSO DivXtoDVD. All went well there ... then I loaded it into shrink DVD .... no problems there either. When DVD Decrypter open for the first burn everything was fine. It stated the burn was successful.

When I tried to play the DVD it would not play on my DVD player or my computer.

I tried to burn the disc again and I got this error message from DVD Decrypter...

"Device io Control (FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed!
Device: [1"1:0] Sony DVD RW DRU-800A KY06
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.
Reason:Access is denied ... Abort/Retry/Ignore"

I've never had this problem before ..... anyone have any idea what is happening? :(

The only time you should ever receive such a permission error is when two or more applications are seeking the same resource. In your case, it is the DVD writer. I will assume you reset the PC when you got this error. This would fix this type of problem most of the time. However, if this does not fix it uninstall the drive from device manager, reboot the PC, and let windows reinstall the device again. This should help.

I didn't reboot the computer when this happen. I didn't know it would help. The only thing running at the time was Utorrent, but I don't see how that could interfer with the dvd writer. It never did it before.

When I got the dvd to burn the movie is recongized, but it simply won't play.

I'll try to burn it again since I've rebooted and see what happens. I will also check out the links provided. Thank you for your help.

I did the reboot and the error stop. Everything did as it should only when the dics finish burning it still won't play. I have downloaded, coverted, and burned disc before with no problems. I just don't understand why this won't play. I got no errors this time.

Any ideas?
