okay so i hahve an NTSC swap magic v3.6 and a fliptop (i have the NTSC slim ps2). i already know for the most part how to backup ps2 games. but i have a noob question: can i play ps2 PAL games that i have "acquired" from the internet? (say for example from here: http://www.mininova.org/tor/349827)

Yes you can, you can change the settings when you load SM for PAL, or you can apply a y-fix and change PAL to NTSC. Although the screen will be slightly off, it works awesome with the vast majority of games.
okay cool. but whne i load the PAL game onto my ps2, can i just load it like that(wihtout any conifguration) or would i have to go to like video setting ---> PAL----> press the square button?
yeah, just set it to PAL, then push X.....Or you can get the app called PAL2NTSC and apply a y-fix, and load then game as NTSC. It is really easy to do, as simple as loading the app, opening the iso, then clicking one button. I cant find the link, so do a search on y-fix or PAL2NTSC if you would like to do that.
