When I click on My Computer icon explorer opens and freezes with no icons showing. When I attempt to close the explorer window I get the following error. Can anyone help me correct this problem.

have you scanned for virus and spyware problems lately? and what programs are you using?

have you done a disc cleanup and a defrag as of late? (needs done at least once a week)

how long has it been since you reformatted?

do you download music/movies from the internet?

if your have virus and spyware problems start reading here

I did a virus scan this morning with Ez Armor ver. 5.1
I did a spyware scan today with Spyware Doctor
I ran disc cleanup/defragged yesterday and check disk today
no virus/spyware and no disk problems found
I download TV Shows

the HjT log looks clean to me

try running a "SmithfraudFix" log file and posting that .download it at the link i gave you in my first post.

also try some different spyware programs "Spysweeper" and "Ewido" are two of the best. run them in safe mode

run both "Spysweeper" and "Ewido" in safe mode also

i never heard of your virus scan you might try a better one also. you can use the free scanner "house calls" at Trend Mirco

I reformatted and performed a clean install of XP. aabbccdd what are the better security suites/software so I can better secure my computer? Thanks a lot for the help.

ok great , your best bet for a virus scan program would be "Trend Mirco PC-cillin Internet Security 2006" this is what i use great program. NOD32 is good also.

then use the "Trend Mirco Anti-Spyware" program also along with "Spy Sweeper" (theses are real time programs)important!!

a couple free apps. you should have to is "Ewido" "Windows Defender" "CCleaner" "EasyCleaner" "SmithFraudFix" and "HJT" i have ALL theses apps. and have NO problems with my PC ever.

shoot me back if you have any questions. keep in mind if your downloading movies/music etc. its going to cause problems
