Hi all,

With consideration that FixVTS allows "in place" processing of VOBs (which is helpful if limited Hard Drive space is available), whereas VobBlanker creates new refined VOBs, I am wondering if one can use a combination of DvdFab and FixVTS, as an alternative to the RipIt4me or Fab/VobBlanker options.

It seems that this option would save a bit of time with the whole process - along with Hard Drive space(DVD Decrypter used in RipIt4me runs quite slow on my computer, as compared to Fab). However, I wouldn't want to waste time attempting this option, if it has already been disproven.
I've read that FixVTS and VobBlanker perform similar functions, so long as one is not using VobBlanker to perform the advanced tasks that it's capable of.

So....might the Fab/FixVTS be a reasonable option for me?
All relative comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Yes, it is true that both VobBlanker and FixVTS works basically the same way. Both can process, clean and filter out any left over corrupted structural cells, etc. flawlessly.

It won't hurt to use FixVTS in combo with DVDFAB Decrypter, if you feel FixVTS looks more easier. However, you can't go wrong with the "one click auto mode" via VobBlanker. Furthermore, with VobBlanker you can edit the movie in prior to "process/clean out" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file. Meaning you have more control of what to do with your backup/movie, besides "processing", you can simply have VobBlanker to "blank, cut/strip or edit" any scenes that you don't want to keep (i.e. FBI Warnings, Trailers/Previews, Extras, etc.)

Overall, both are FREE and extremely useful. So use whatever you deem it's more easier and most helpful to you. Good luck and happy burning.

hey davo,

don't know why it wouldn't work. but i don't know much. i'd think it "should" work. perhaps someone will give you a specific answer soon. in the meantime, if you already have a dvdfab ripped file on your hard drive, why not just try it? should only take a few minutes to find out if shrink likes the results. let us know what happens.

Yes davo_wavo, that combo will work as i have tried it like 5 times and everytime have had no problems, came out great,
also, i do prefer to use VobBlanker for the reasons that Alkohol stated,
but i can see that for novice users or unexperienced user why FixVts looks extremely easy to use and is.
